Allergy and Toxicity Testing

During your first consultation we will discuss your health in some detail. Most people with allergies have other problems which predispose them to react to things in an allergic way. Often the body has reached a state of 'toxic overload' which increases susceptibility to potential allergens. We will consider your diet and eating habits, home and work environments, lifestyle and stress factors, and so on. This 'big picture' will provide the context for understanding your allergies and for the treatment and advice you'll receive.

I will then test you against a range of suspected allergens and toxins using a method known as Diagnostic Kinesiology (sometimes called 'muscle testing'). It is a safe and non-invasive approach which is both accurate and versatile, and involves you in your own allergy detection. As well as identifying problem foods and additives, kinesiology can reveal sensitivities to a wide range of substances. These include inhalant allergens like pollens and moulds; environmental pollutants like diesel fumes and chlorine; household chemicals like washing powder and shampoo, and more. Kinesiology also reveals the presence of key toxins in the body, such as heavy metals, fungi and parasites all of which predispose to allergy. And it can reveal weaknesses in different organs and systems, for example the liver, which is the main organ of detoxification. For most people this approach is all that is required to obtain an accurate allergy and toxicity picture. And what's more, kinesiology helps with the selection of effective treatments! How it works will be fully explained to you when you come in.

Very occasionally I recommend a Diagnostic Elimination Diet to people who cannot be tested easily using kinesiology. It is user-friendly and lasts for only three to five weeks. By removing carefully selected foods and drinks until you feel well again we can then identify which ones are causing you problems by reintroducing them one at a time. This method is also known as 'elimination followed by challenge'.

I also offer two comprehensive Blood Tests, usually to people who ask to be tested in this way, as they are not needed in addition to kinesiology (and in my experience often do not tell the whole story). One is a food only test, the other a combined food and inhalant allergen test.

Also available are other lab tests for mercury sensitivity, leaky gut, helicobacter pylori, parasite infestation, and more, though these are rarely required in addition to kinesiology.

Used individually or in combination, the above tests will provide an accurate picture of your allergy and toxicity status, and your treatment needs.

Q. Are You Overweight?

If you are overweight or experience fluctuating weight you are more likely to have food intolerances. If you do, there is a good chance that you will lose weight or it will stabilize once offending foods have been eliminated from your diet. I have had a lot of success helping people find their optimum weight by addressing food sensitivity. This is often a key factor in weight imbalance. In short, allergy can make you fat!
